The LARMAG Blog
News, opinion and deeper dives into the contemporary art world from the editorial team of LARMAGAZINE, a free and independent art publication based in Monterrey, Nuevo León, México.
The LARMAG blog carries LARMAGAZINE's contemporary art coverage beyond its printed and digital editions, publishing shorter pieces between issues and in the space between them. Editorial notes on openings, exhibitions, and the working conditions of artists sit alongside opinion writing and deeper dives, giving readers a running commentary on the art world rather than a fixed archive.
As a free and independent publication based in Monterrey, Nuevo León, México, the blog keeps a regional perspective on global art events. Coverage of large international exhibitions and biennials is placed alongside local institutional programming, connecting international discourse to the specific scenes and audiences that surround it. The result is a space where curatorial ambition meets everyday practice.
Recent entries have taken on the 11th Berlin Biennale and its themes, as well as Premaco Monterrey 2020 and its attention to feminism and women's quotas, along with commentary on exhibitions and portfolios by artists working across sound, installation, and conceptual practices. Longer critical essays and shorter reactive notes alternate, allowing both sustained argument and quick response to the season.
The magazine also maintains a store and an archive of issues, with portfolios, articles, and recommended reading complementing the blog's stream of posts. For readers who want to move from a blog entry into a fuller treatment of the same subject, the printed issues remain the anchor point of the publication, while the blog acts as the connective tissue between them and the wider public of contemporary art.
From the Blog

Recent entries in the magazine's coverage have addressed the 11th Berlin Biennale in 2020, Premaco Monterrey 2020 and its focus on feminism and women's quotas, and a review of artistic production conditions in Monterrey published in April 2018.
